No matter the season, there is
always something to do in the area. Bird watching is popular year
round, as eagles soar above Bryn-Teg looking for food in both winter
and summer. Within eyeshot of the cottage lies a nesting ground
for magnificent sand hill cranes. A short walk from Bryn-Teg Cottage
is the Wynn Nature Center. Crossman Ridge Trail is also nearby and
it is a beautiful bike, hike or ski, which eventually leads to the
Homestead Trail on Diamond Ridge. For a shorter hike or ski, you
can't beat the trip down to Twitter Creek, a small stream where
you are sure to see some beavers.
A peaceful garden partially surrounds
Bryn-Teg that moose seem to flock to in the spring, summer, and
fall. In the spring it is not uncommon for baby moose to be born
nearby or even on the property itself. Some of the many animals
that are also our good neighbors are rabbit, bear, lynx, and coyotes.
After a day of fishing, biking,
hiking, skiing, berry picking or sightseeing, you will look forward
to returning to the cottage to watch the beautiful sunset of Cook
Inlet. In the winter, the magnificent northern lights often light
up the sky. |
